Security Cameras

Depending on your need you will require one or more cameras. When you buy the cameras you need to verify the following:

  • Determine whether you require the cameras to be installed outdoors or indoors. If you want the outdoors ones then you will have to select something that can resist the elements outdoors.
  • Determine whether your situation requires colored or black and white cameras. You will need color cameras if you want details of color of clothes, hair or vehicles. Black and white cameras have higher resolution and are used in conjunction with infrared which are used for areas with low light conditions.
  • Whether you need wired or wireless cameras. The wireless ones will be easy and quick to install as they require no wiring. When you choose the wired ones you need to select the installation points carefully as you will have to hide the wiring.
  • Will the cameras work in light areas or dark areas? If you are going to work in dark areas then infrared cameras will be required.
  • Number of cameras you will require. This will largely depend on the number of locations you want to monitor. Therefore you will have to buy a security system that will allow you to expand its capability by adding more cameras as and when required.

Mounting The Cameras

You need to plan the areas where you want to install the cameras. You will have to mark off the locations where you want the cameras mounted, it can be on walls or other structures. While wireless system can be mounted anywhere within the perimeter of the systems reach, for wired system you will have to do the wiring in such a way that the cables are kept concealed in order to prevent vandalism.

Receiver/DVR

After you have mounted the cameras you need to connect them to the receiver or DVR. Follow the manual carefully when you do so.
